Grants to USA and territories nonprofit organizations and government agencies to improve criminal justice response to gender-based assault and domestic violence. Applicants are advised to complete required registrations well in advance of the deadline. Funding is intended to support coordinated community responses to hold offenders accountable and serve victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking. New and continuation applicants are eligible to apply.

The ICJR Program encourages state, local, and tribal governments and courts to treat domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking as serious violations of criminal law requiring the coordinated involvement of the entire criminal justice system. The Improving Criminal Justice Responses Program includes 24 purpose areas.

For a complete list of the 24 purpose areas, see: https://www.justice.gov/ovw/page/file/1354021/download#page=5

In FY 2021, OVW is interested in supporting the priority area(s) identified below. Applications proposing activities in the following areas will be given special consideration.

  1. Reduce violent crime against women and promote victim safety through investing in law enforcement, increasing prosecution, and promoting effective prevention.
