Grants of up to $5,000 to Florida nonprofit organizations for programs that improve the quality of life for residents in eligible locations. Applicants must submit a letter of interest prior to applying. Funding is intended for projects and activities that address community needs in the focus areas of arts and culture, education, historical preservation, and health and social services. Projects must serve those who live, work, learn and play in Coral Gables.

Grants from the Foundation do not typically exceed $5,000.

Term of Contract:

All grants are one-year grants.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Applicant must be a tax-exempt 501(c)3 organization or have a fiscal agent.

The Foundation generally will not consider funding requests for the following:
- Sectarian or religious activities
- Political activities or organizations
- Grants directly to individuals
- Annual fundraising campaigns
- Special events or fundraisers
- Organizations operating outside the United States
- Organizations seeking support for fundraising events

Pre-Application Information:

In order for a proposal to be considered for funding, the applicant first must send a brief letter of inquiry.

- The current window for Letters of Inquiry (LOI) is May 1 to 13.
- The Community Giving Committee will meet to review Letters of Inquiry, and Staff will reply with invitations to proceed with qualified ideas by June 1.
- Staff and/or Board will make site visits and review submissions starting June 1.
- Full Grant application must be complete by June 17.
- Grants will be finalized at a Community Giving Committee meeting in mid-July.
- Approved Grants will be sent in an award letter that must be signed and returned to form a Grant Agreement. Return it immediately.
- Grants with a complete agreement will be announced on July 20, and checks can be issued about a week after that.

No new proposals can be considered until all terms of the Grant Agreement, narrative, and financial reporting requirements are met.
