Grants starting at $50,000 to USA libraries, educational institutions, hospitals, and clinics in multiple states for innovative projects. Funding is intended for initiatives in Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, and Tennessee.

Grant Categories include:

Libraries: Grant applications will be considered generally for resource Endowments (print, film, electronic database, speakers/workshops) capital construction and innovative equipment. Projects fostering broader public access to global information sources utilizing collaborative efforts, pioneering technologies and equipment are encouraged.

Grants for Educational Institutions: Grant applications from universities, colleges and secondary schools will be considered generally for:
{a} Educational endowments to fund scholarships based solely on educational achievements, leadership and academic ability of the student,
{b} Endowments to support fellowships and teaching chairs for educators who confine their activities primarily to classroom instruction in the liberal arts, mathematics and the sciences during the academic year, and
{c} Construction or endowment of buildings, wings or additions thereto of buildings, and equipment for educational purposes.

Grants for Hospitals and Clinics: Grant applications from hospitals and clinics will be considered generally where the proposal demonstrates one or more of the following:
{a} A new health need,
{b} An improvement in the quality of health care, or
{c} Reduced health costs with better patient outcomes

Estimated Size of Grant:

Grant applications will be considered for major expenditures generally between $50,000 and $100,000 and greater or lesser amounts in certain circumstances.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

The Foundation will make grants only to publicly supported nonprofit tax-exempt organizations within the meaning of the Internal Revenue Code.

Grant applications generally will be considered where
{a} Outside funding for the project (including governmental) is not available,
{b} The project will be largely funded by the grant unless the grant request covers a discrete component of a larger project, and
{c} The funds will be used for capital projects including equipment or endowments.

Applications for direct salary support will not be accepted.

All grant awards are made on the condition that the entirety of the funds advanced shall be utilized in direct furtherance of the project and that no portion thereof shall be appropriated by the Grantee as an administrative or processing fee, for overseeing the project or for its general overhead.

Generally, the Board will only entertain grant applications from Applicants located in the states of: Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Tennessee.

Generally, no grant will be considered that is to support a research project. Proposals for a continuing project must include a commitment from the applicant or a third party that the project will continue to receive all the necessary financial support after the grant from the Foundation is expended.

Pre-Application Information:

The application period for grant requests is January 29, 2018 - May 31, 2018.

You must submit your paper application 44 days after the request date, or by the last day of the application period, whichever comes first. Electronic submissions are not accepted at this time. The application in duplicate plus all supporting information must be completed and postmarked no later than 44 days after requesting the ONLINE application. Requests made after April 17, 2018 must be postmarked by May 31, 2018.
