Grants ranging from $10,000 to $50,000 to USA nonprofits, religious centers, mosques, and schools for efforts to build and strengthen the American Muslim community. Funding is intended to help organizations that are operating in or working with Muslim communities. The Fund believes that strong leaders and institutions are key to creating a world where American Muslims can live and thrive with dignity.

The following criteria are considered when Pillars assesses an organization:
- Program: Thoughtful and well-conceived proposals that clearly outline what issue(s) the project/organization will address and how.
- Leadership: Strong leadership with a track record of success and a proposal that explicitly articulates how the organization is accountable to the communities it seeks to serve.
- Impact (Relevance): Strategic and specific proposals that have the realistic potential to create a meaningful positive transformation for Muslims in the United States.
- Scope, Scale, and Capacity: Potential of carrying out the proposed work, clear plan for obtaining additional funding if necessary, and partnerships necessary to maximize resources.

Typical Pillars grants range from $10,000 to $50,000.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Organizations must have 501(c)(3) status or be sponsored by a fiscal agent with 501(c)(3) status by December 1, 2019. Funding is only available to organizations and projects based in the United States.

While the building or maintenance of mosques, religious centers, or schools is not funded, Pillars grants may be used to support programs based in those institutions.

Pre-Application Information:

To be considered for the 2019-20 grant cycle, all organizations should submit a Letter of Inquiry (LOI) by July 19th. Then, invited applicants will be asked to submit a full application in Fall 2019.

Important Dates:
January 1: Accepting LOIs on a rolling basis.
July 19, 11:59 PM CDT: LOI deadline for Fall 2019-20 consideration
September 14: Letter of Inquiry response date.
