THE KATIE CAPLES FOUNDATION IS COMMITTED TO INCREASING THE NUMBER OF REGISTERED ORGAN DONORS AND ELIMINATING THE WAIT FOR THOSE ON THE NATIONAL TRANSPLANT WAITING LIST. THE FOUNDATION PURSUES ACHIEVEMENT OF THIS MISSION THROUGH ORGAN DONOR REGISTRATION AWARENESS AND EDUCATIONAL PRESENTATIONS, WHICH INFORM AND ENCOURAGE AUDIENCES TO REGISTER TO BECOME AN ORGAN DONOR. PARTNERSHIPS WITH REGIONAL AND NATIONAL HEALTHCARE FACILITIES, UNIVERSITIES, AND NONPROFIT ORGANIZATIONS HAVE ALLOWED THE FOUNDATION TO EXPAND ITS AWARENESS RAISING CAMPAIGNS AND ORGAN DONOR EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMING RESULTING IN A SIGNIFICANT INCREASE IN THE NUMBER OF REGISTERED ORGAN DONORS IN THE AREAS THE FOUNDATION SERVES. ADDITIONALLY, THE FOUNDATION AWARDS ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS TO DESERVING YOUNG PEOPLE IN THE NORTH FLORIDA REGION. THESE SCHOLARSHIPS ARE FUNDED THROUGH PRIVATE DONATIONS AND THE KATIE INVITATIONAL.
