Request a Grant Writer

Grants of up to $5,000 and technical assistance to Florida small businesses in eligible locations, including home-based businesses, for business development activities. Funding is intended to support supplies and equipment purchases, renovations, insurance, inventory, security systems, and marketing and advertising. In addition, businesses may receive technical services and support. Businesses must be located in District 5 of Miami-Dade County. The program provides financial assistance to further the economic viability of recipients.

Funding may be used for:

  • Purchase of inventory and supplies
  • Purchase of business equipment
  • Publicity, marketing, and advertising (signs, pamphlets, wall plaques, cornerstones, dedications, notices, flyers, brochures, news releases, media, packages, promotions, and/or stationery)
  • Commercial security systems
  • Commercial liability insurance
  • Minor interior/exterior renovations (requires approval)
  • Purchase of work vehicle (cargo van or pickā€up truck only)
  • Professional services
  • Staff training
  • Payment of lease or mortgage of commercial space only.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

All businesses must be located in District 5 and meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Business must be in operation for at least 1 year
- Have between 1 and 10 employees, including the owner
- Must be a for-profit business.
- Businesses that received the Retail Relief Grant in 2020 may apply.
- Home-based businesses can apply.

Not eligible:
- Businesses that are not in District 5, or relocate out of District 5 during the process
- Businesses that are a part of a national chain
- Nonprofits
- Businesses that submit applications after the deadline

Ineligible use of funding:
- Rental Deposits
- Late Payment Fees
- Purchase of Alcohol, Tobacco, or Medicine
- Salaries
- Debts
- And any and all others not listed in the eligible use.

Pre-Application Information:

Completed applications will be accepted via email until April 9, 2021, by 5:00 PM.

All applicants will be notified of the results via email from May 3, 2021, to May 7, 2021.

Applicants must have a valid DUNS number.
